Workshop Equiment

Renishaw Cyclone
Small Parts Copy Machine

The Renishaw Cyclone speaks for itself - it clones any type of component it scans. KEC staff have been factory trained by engineers from the United Kingdom to optimise the complete cloning process.

KEC provides the most comprehensive 'Reverse Engineering' process outside of North America. The KEC cloning machine is ideal for copying any item whether it be a tooth crown for the dental industry or cylinder heads for the automotive industry. Once the component is scanned, it can be viewed in a full three-dimensional view on computer, this allows us to rotate the component 360 degrees to inspect and correct any defect in the original surface. Once the component is scanned KEC can give you the plotted points for your own CAD system or we can carry out a full CNC tool path so you can start machining straight away. Once the tool paths are created by CAD, these files are transformed to a (DNC) Direct Numerical System which translates this information to the CNC machine for five-axis simultaneous machining. This technology is extremely useful in developing a 3D solid model of any specialty component from prototypes to production.

SF 1020 Flow Bench

KEC has the state of the art flow bench system which allows us to examine the flow area with given camshaft lobes.

Flow area with lobe area potentials is the art of finding hidden horsepower and torque at given rpm speeds this enables KEC to maximise the outputs of a race winning engine. With this information at our finger tips it makes camshaft selection easy.

Some of the features include swirl stability versus crank degrees, overlap area versus crank degrees for lobe separation, low area versus average lift in crank degrees and most important the engine summary at peak power and torque, within this summary the given air flow needed for induction runner length and header length sizes with suggested sizes to make the right decision the first time.

901 Superflow Engine Dyno

KEC's Superflow Engine Dyno utilises state-of-the-art Windyn software and allows steady-state, acceleration and full-power tests to be carried out with maximum accuracy and repeatability. Weather correction allows testing parity throughout the year. Tough endurance testing is possible thanks to our huge 7000 litre water reserve for the dyno.

workshop_13.jpg OKUMA CNC Cylinder Head Machine

At KEC, we offer the unique service of repairing damaged ports or combustion chambers to the exact original dimensions. Through the Digitising process we are able to plot a neighbouring port or chamber, weld the damaged area and then CNC machine it ready for use again.
Five Axis CNC Mill

KEC's 5-axis CNC machine moves in 5 axis at the same time to minimise patching through the port. Unlike 3-axis machines, there is no need for hand finishing with the super smooth 5 -axis machine giving ultimate port-to-port consistency and improved turnaround time. This same high precision facility is also capable of small parts manufacturing and manifold porting as pictured.

cam_doctor.jpg Cam Doctor

The Cam Doctor can find the exact specifications on any unknown camshaft, it can give you the specifications from just an intake or exhaust lobe through to all of the lobes on the camshaft and it can display all of the specifications on a printed out graph including Lobe lift, Valve Lift, Durations, Centrelines, Lobe Seperation, Overlap and the various opening and closing degree's making finding your perfect cam that much easier.
Facer

The facer does exactly what its name implies and faces heads, it can also be used to deck engine blocks and to machine manifold surfaces.

Valve Grinder

The Valve Grinder is used primarily to face face the seats of the valves but it can also be used to backcut the valves for better flow. The Valve Grinder can also be used to face the tips of the valves.
Engine Balancer

Kostecki Engine Centre uses a completely digital balancer which is used to balance crankshafts and also to neutrally balnce flywheels and flexplates.

Rod Heater

The Rod Heater is used to fit press style gudgeon pins to the conrods in the engine, the small end of the rod is heated then placed into the piston and then the gudgeon pin is pushed through.
Lathe

The Lathe is used for any job where a part needs to be turned down to suit a specific application, the Lathe can also be used to polish the crankshaft from a cylinder block.

Boring Bar

The Boring Bar is used to setup and position engine blocks and to bore out cylinders when to much wear has occured or when assembling a stroker kit, it can also be used to cut out o'ring grooves.
Strip Down Bay

The Strip Down Bay is where we disassemble, strip down and clean everything from cylinder heads and engines through to complete engines, in the Strip Down Bay we also have a Sand Blasting Tank, A Hot Wash, An Acid Bath and a High Pressure Cleaner all of which are used to ensure your new engines and cylinder heads are spotless from the word go.

engine_assembly_room.jpg Engine Room

Kostecki's Engine Building Room is a spotless room which is kept dust and dirt free and air conditioned so that your new engine can be built and kept in pristine condition with no chance of contaminants entering your engine.
